The exact magic the depictions of animals in rock paintings of ancient Africa had is still not clear, but the intrigue and fascination lives on. My work relates to the figurations at the Brandberg in Namibia; in my transformations I paint bleached photographs with liquid photo emulsion that creates details within number, dimension and structure of different animal depictions. In analogy to the painted over and washed away pictures, I am updating a long and mythical story.
